Postby Allen M on Wed Jan 23, 2008 12:16 am

I just wanted to be the first to try out the new forums and welcome everyone to the Timp Tri Club! In the future, I hope that these forums will be helpful in disseminating information to everyone about what's going on and answer questions people may have, as well as be entertaining.

Thanks! Hope to see you soon out training!

Cool Icebreaker logo

Postby kd_gonzo on Fri Jan 25, 2008 1:56 am

Allen,
The icebreaker logo is awesome! Will volunteers get a cool shirt for helping out since we will not be able to race?
Thanks,
Kristy Gonzales

Thanks! The logo was actually put together by Bill at Gold Medal Racing - I wish I could take credit for that. And yes, volunteers will be getting shirts as well.

Info on TTC

Postby Clint on Wed Jan 30, 2008 8:10 pm

I am looking on information on TTC. How many members are there? How many participate? What kinds of activities do you do? Where are most of the members located? Do the members get together to train? Where? etc.

I am just starting to do triathlons (done one).

I guess what I am asking is what does TTC have to offer? (I see you put on the AF tri.)

Here's a quick overview of the club:

The purpose of the club is to bring together triathletes in the area and create a support and training group as well as friendships. We have about 150 members - everyone from newbies to crazy fast triathletes that spend a lot of time on podiums.
We have monthly club meetings where we discuss club business, general triathlon stuff, we normally have a guest speaker who specializes in some aspect of triathlon, and we just hang out with other cool triathletes.

During the warmer months, we'll have at least one club run, bike and open water swim each week. During the winter months, it's fair game but I usually see quite a few people training at the various gyms around. We're also trying to swing a deal with Elevate training center in Orem for free Club time at their facility. Still working on that.

We have cool club uniforms that make it easy to identify other club members when racing, and know where are the cool triathletes are at the race to hang out with while waiting to be called up to the podium.

We also sponsor the Timp Tri Club Icebreaker Triathlon in March at the American Fork Fitness center. It's a great early spring race and it serves as a fundraiser for the club.

There are also other events throughout the year; we have a night before dinner at the St. George Triathlon, usually at a local park.
We have the Ironman in a Week program in April? (do all the distance of an ironman triathlon in one week and get a cool t-shirt! It's harder than you think)
The new last year and very popular ULTOT in the summer - a swim in utah lake, bike from there up the canyon to the trailhead to timpanogos and run up timpanogos. Very entertaining.
A summer family BBQ
And of course the ever popular Timp Tri Club Christmas party! Always more than you expect!

In addition to the above mentioned items, the Club is a great place to meet new friends to train with and traval to races with. I've made so many new friends through the club with the same interests as me - that alone is worth more that the rest of the club activities put together. And that's saying something! I hope this answers your question!

Hope to see you soon at a club meeting!
